Meet The Team
Hey, friend!
I’m Aeryka, the owner and principal doula at Through Thick & Thin Perinatal Services!
My mission is to change the perception of birth for black women and people of color by means of education, empowerment and unbiased, culturally competent support throughout the duration of our time together.
As your doula, my role is to support you informationally, offering knowledge, research, dialogue, and whatever is necessary to help you make informed decisions throughout your pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. I am here to support you mentally & emotionally as well as help to normalize life and labor as well as walk with you through whatever comes your way during this journey.
My passion for reproductive justice and reproductive health, maternal and child health is long standing. To that end, I have geared much of my research and schooling towards it.

Birth is a normal, natural process that your body is perfectly designed to experience. My desire as doula is to support you in a way that allows and encourages you to achieve your goals and desires for birth, whatever they may be, as well as one that keeps you and baby healthy.

I meet with families at least once, and oftentimes more, within a week or two after baby is born. Women carry their labors around with them in their ‘back pockets’ for the rest of their lives, so it is important to be able to frame a positive birth memory. This postpartum visit helps immensely with this act. As a mom, and with your primary support person, you will make decisions along the way that impact your experience. Some of these decisions you will feel good about, and some may seem frightening. I want you to know that you made the best decisions possible with the circumstances that crossed your path. I am also there to answer questions, check in on breast feeding (if that is in your plan), and provide referrals for postpartum support, if needed

Hey, friend!
I’m Ally and I’m the lactation counselor at Through Thick & Thin Perinatal Services! My mission is to give families a well informed option to feed their babies. Whether you choose to breast or chest feed or formula feed, I’m here to make sure you’re well informed and comfortable. I will walk with you through the foundational lactation education and provide evidence based support. I hope to help you build confidence by helping you understanding the effects that labor and delivery can have on lactation as well as the postpartum period.
